Meet Michael Carron

After spending the better part of 20 years in leadership roles in corporate and non-profit, some friends approached me and asked if I’d come alongside them as they were building their new home. I was no stranger to creative roles or even construction for that matter. In fact, I was the one in our friend group who had a knack for design but never felt like I could make it full-time. After growing up in the home of a carpenter and renovating my first home, I’d learned a thing or two about the ins & outs of home renovations.

Very early into the pursuit of this creative work I discovered a drive for interior design that went beyond curating an aesthetic and got right to the heart of what our homes are all about:

Given the amount of time, energy and financial investment we pour into our homes, they play an extraordinary role in our everyday lives. After all, our homes are the stage for life’s most important things, why shouldn’t they reflect our values?

I don’t think we always think about creating a home in those terms and, to be fair, while creating a home that reflects our values may seem like a no-brainer, it’s not always the easiest thing to do. So, I approach each project and every client - whether it’s a home or a small business - with a pocketful of questions to help my clients see life’s most important things reflected in how they interact with their home. No two client projects will look the same because we all come with our unique set of experience and ways of seeing the world.

As you browse through my portfolio, you’ll see that most of my work leans more modern in aesthetic and approach, with the function of the spaces where we spend the most time being paramount. But each project maintains a common thread of elements you’d find in nature (rich, warm tones and a love for color) and an unashamed curiosity for texture. Although I take the lead from my clients on the style they most identify with, having hailed from Germany at a young age, I gravitate toward Scandinavian, Danish and a broadly European older-world design aesthetic.

I live with my wife, Sara and two boys in the Midwest and while most of my client work is done regionally I have a growing body of work in different parts of the country.
