New Beginning
Our last day in the old house
It’s 10:57p. It’s 2.5 hrs past my bedtime, but I can’t sleep. It’s the kind of night where you try to fall asleep but your mind keeps swirling with to do lists and things you forgot to do 3 weeks ago and somehow your remember RIGHT NOW. So… it’s the perfect time to write a blog post.
Last Friday we moved into our new place. I’ll be sharing some of our renovation progress here along with other projects I’ll try to keep you up to speed on.
Summer was an absolute blur. We put the offer in on this place Memorial Day weekend hoping and dreaming they’d accept and no way of anticipating we’d be where we are now. So we put our house on the market, it sold in 3 days after three offers (and a bidding war) and now it’s September 1st, 2022.
Since we took possession we’ve taken out:
popcorn ceiling from the the boys bedrooms, done a skim coat and repainted
the kitchen including all plumbing fixtures, bulk heads, cabinets, backsplash, tile & tile flooring
the top layer of tile from our foyer leaving original terracotta flooring that is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get out on our own
the carpet from all three bedrooms, the basement, the parlor, living room and hearth room
countless brown recluse carcasses from an infestation we had to take care of before we moved in

There’s way more to share than what I’ve shown here, but it’s a start. This is a new beginning for our family. In a lot of ways. Beginning again has it’s own mix of beauty and terror and I’m learning to not be surprised when those two things arrive in the same package. Because some of the most meaningful experiences in life seem to make appearances when they do.
